800-627-8569 5 Reel Disk from McFarlane Mfg.
Introduction
The “4100 Series Reel Disk” from McFarlane Mfg. is our
latest development in vertical tillage and can satisfy all of
the demands of today’s farming practices, especially BT
corn and corn on corn cropping. This new tool, featuring
ultra-shallow concave disk blades, loosens the top one
to four inches of the soil yet leaves the seedbed rm.
This ensures accurate seed depth at planting, resulting
in even emergence and better yields. Smoothing uneven
ground and removing small weeds are done quickly at the
seven to nine mph operating speeds.
The Reel Disk is available in a 12’, 14’, and 16’ wide
rigid frame, as well as 20’, 25’, 30’ 35’ and 45’ folding
frames. The horsepower required to pull the reel disk
is approximately eight to nine hp per foot of width.
Therefore the 12’ reel disk requires as little as 100 hp
while the 45’ requires up to 405 hp.

Safety
General
Safety of the operator and bystanders is one of the main
concerns in designing and developing a new piece of
equipment. Designers and manufacturers build in as
many safety features as possible. However, every year
many accidents occur which could have been avoided by
a few seconds of thought and a more careful approach to
handling the equipment.
Most work related accidents are caused by failure to
observe basic safety rules or precautions. An accident
can often be avoided by recognizing potentially
hazardous situations before an accident occurs. As you
assemble, operate, tow, or maintain the Reel Disk (unit),
you must be alert to potential hazards. You should also
have the necessary training, skills, and tools to perform
any assembly or maintenance procedures.
Improper operation and maintenance of this unit could
result in a dangerous situation that could cause injury or
death.
WARNING
Do not use or tow the unit until you read and
understand the information contained in this
manual.
Safety precautions and warnings are provided
in this manual and on the unit. If these hazard
warnings are not heeded, bodily injury or death
could occur to you or to other persons.
McFarlane cannot anticipate every possible circumstance
that might involve a potential hazard. The warnings
in this manual and on the product are, therefore, not
all-inclusive. If a method of operation not speci cally
recommended by us is used, you must satisfy yourself
that it is safe for you and for others. You should also
ensure that the unit will not be damaged or be made
unsafe by the methods that you choose.
The information, speci cations, and illustrations in this
manual are based on the information that was available
at the time this material was written and can change at
any time.
