FUNCTION OF DISHWASHER DETERGENT
Dishwasher detergent contains chemicals that remove grime and scraps of food. Standard dishwasher
detergent from convenience stores can be used.
Dishwasher detergent
There are 3 types of dishwasher detergents:
1. With phosphates and chlorine
2. With phosphates and without chlorine
3. Without phosphates and without chlorine
Dishwasher detergent in powder form does not normally contain phosphates. The softening function of
phosphates in water is not a given thing. Salt, from a hardness of 6°dH, is recommended instead. If
dishwasher detergent without phosphates is used in hard water, this often produces white stains on
porcelain and glass. In which case, use more dishwasher detergent for better results. Dishwasher
detergent without chlorine does not have a very strong bleaching effect. Stubborn stains might not be
completely removed. In which case, choose a wash programme with a higher temperature.
Concentrated dishwasher detergent
Concentrated dishwasher detergent is divided into two basic types on the basis of their chemical
composition:
conventional basic dishwasher detergent with caustic substances
low alkaline content, concentrated detergent with natural enzymes
Dishwasher detergent in tablet form
Dishwasher detergent in tablet form disolves at different rates Some types do not manage to dissolve and
achieve their full strength during short wash programmes. For this reason, use dishwasher detergent in
tablet form for long wash programmes so that there will not be any residual detergent on the dishes or in
the machine.
NOTE: Dishwasher detergent in tablet form should only be used in models with 3-in-1 functions or 3-in-1
programmes.
Compartment for dishwasher detegent
The compartment must be filled before each wash in accordance with the instructions in the table of wash
programmes. This dishwasher uses less detergent and rinsing agent than conventional dishwashers. One
tablespoon of dishwasher detergent per wash is normally enough. More is needed if the dishes are very
dirty. Always add the dishwasher detergent just before starting the dishwasher, otherwise it can get wet
and may not fully dissolve.
