Overview

The document provided is a user manual for the SMART CUBE® minibar systems, specifically covering models SC40T, SC40TNF, SC60T, and SC60TNF. These are refrigerating appliances primarily intended for use in hospitality settings such as hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast environments, as well as staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and similar non-retail applications.

Function Description:

The SMART CUBE® minibar is a compact refrigerating appliance designed to store and cool beverages and snacks. It features an interior lighting system, which can be adjusted in intensity, and some models are equipped with an integral modem device for communication with a central computer server. This communication allows for automatic data gathering and transmission, as well as the ability to receive data from a wireless handheld unit used by hotel staff. The minibar incorporates sensor shelves for inventory management, with specific configurations for both the cold cube backplane and the door rack backplane. A key feature is the automatic defrost cycle that occurs every 24 hours. The appliance also includes a lock override function for emergency access, which can be enabled or disabled depending on whether the electronics are malfunctioning or functioning correctly.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Models Covered: SC40T, SC40TNF, SC60T, SC60TNF.
  • Temperature Regulation: The operating temperature is influenced by installation, ventilation, and product load. The temperature control box is factory-set for optimum performance but can be adjusted via a dial on the back of the unit.
    • Temperature Adjustment Diagram (Approximate Settings):
      • MIN: 64.4°F / 18°C
      • 1: 60.8°F / 16°C
      • 2: 55.4°F / 13°C
      • MED: 50.0°F / 10°C
      • 3: 44.6°F / 7°C
      • 4: 39.2°F / 4°C
      • MAX: 33.8°F / 1°C
    • MAX setting provides maximum cooling.
  • Defrost Cycle: Automatic defrost every 24 hours.
  • Lighting: Interior lighting with adjustable intensity (levels 0-10) controlled via S4 software, a programmable feature set during installation.
  • Communication (for some models): Integral modem device for communication with a Minibar Systems computer server. Data can be transmitted to and from the SmartCube.
  • Shelf Configuration: Features interior sensor shelves for both the cold cube backplane and the door rack backplane. Three possible shelf configurations are available for each. A sensor shelf is required in the top locations of both the door and cold cube.
  • Anti-Tilt Bracket Installation: Specific instructions and dimensional drawings are provided for installing anti-tilt brackets for DualBar (SC40T with 27L GuestFridge) and SmartCube SC-40 and SC-60 models, ensuring stability and proper ventilation within case goods.
  • Power Supply: Requires a standard AC mains outlet plug with safety ground. The AC mains supply must be clean and stable.

Usage Features:

  • Temperature Control: Users can adjust the cooling temperature by rotating a dial on the back of the unit, with settings ranging from MIN to MAX.
  • Shelf Customization: Sensor shelves can be replaced and installed, allowing for flexible storage arrangements. Dividers can be connected to sensor shelves for organized storage.
  • Lock Override: In case of electronics malfunction, a lock override mechanism allows manual release of the E-lock function by pressing and rotating a pusher head. This feature can be disabled to resume normal E-lock operation.
  • Communication (for staff): Hotel personnel can use a wireless handheld unit to transmit data to the SmartCube, which then communicates with the central server.
  • Installation: Detailed instructions are provided for unpacking, electrical safety, door shelf replacement and installation, SmartCube shelf replacement and installation, console box replacement and installation, and anti-tilt bracket installation for various models.

Maintenance Features:

  • Routine Cleaning: It is recommended to regularly clean dust from the cooling unit and debris from ventilation inlets, exhaust vents, and shelf cutouts. The inside of the SmartCube should be cleaned occasionally, ideally during a refill operation when the unit is offline or communications are suspended.
  • Cleaning Materials: Avoid using excessive water, strong chemicals, cleaning agents, soap, or abrasive materials. A soft, damp cloth is suitable for cleaning the exterior.
  • Refrigerant Circuit: Users are warned not to damage the refrigerant circuit.
  • Power Cord: If the mains power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Minibar Systems, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person.
  • Troubleshooting: For any malfunctions not covered by routine maintenance, users are advised to contact their Minibar Systems representative.
  • Disposal: The product bears the WEEE symbol, indicating it must be handled according to European Directive 2002/96/EC for recycling. Plastic parts are marked for graded recycling. Old minibars should have doors removed and shelves left in place to prevent child entrapment. Disposal by incineration is prohibited.
