ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
CHANGING CHIPPER KNIVES
CAUTION: BEFORE CHANGING
KNIVES, ALWAYS REMOVE
IGNTION KEYS AND LOCK OUT
ENGINE PANEL.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE
CHIPPER DRUM HAS COME TO A
COMPLETE STOP.
1. Remove chipper hood lock pin and open the
hood.
2. Rotate drum so knife is accessible.
3. Install drum lock pin.
4. Remove the four (4) knife bolts.
5. Remove all dirt and chip particles from the
knife and knife pocket with wire brush.
6. Inspect the knife holder for wear.
7. Reverse, grind or replace the knife.
8. Place the knife onto the knife holder and insert
bolts. Slide the knife back (away from anvil)
against the knife bolts.Torque 3/4"-16 knife bolts
to specifications listed in the torque chart on page
37
9. Remove drum lock pin.
10. Repeat this process for each knife.
11. After changing knives, close chipper hood
and replace hood lock pin.
IMPORTANT! Adjust anvil each time you replace
or sharpen knives.
