Cleaning the Engine And Deck
Anyfuel oroil spilledonthe machineshouldbewiped
offpromptly.DoNOTallowdebristo accumulatearound
thecoolingfinsof the engineoron anyotherpartofthe
machine.
IMPORTANT:The useofa pressurewashertoclean
yourtractorisNOTrecommended.It maycausedamage
toelectricalcomponents,spindles,pulleys,bearingsor
theengine.
Deck Wash System TM
A hexplugcan befoundonyourtractor'sdecksurface.
SeeFig.6-2.
Thisplugcan bereplacedwitha waterporttobeusedas
partof aseparately-availabledeckwashsystem.
UsetheDeckWashSystemTM to rinsegrassclippings
fromthedeck'sundersideandpreventthebuildupof
corrosivechemicals.

Cutting Deck Removal
NOTE:Modelsequippedwitha 38-inchdeckhave
onedeckidlerpulley.Modelsequippedwitha 42-and
46-inchdeckhavetwodeck idlerpulleys.
Toremovethe cuttingdeck,proceedas follows:
1. Placethe PTO(BladeEngage)leverinthedisen-
gaged(OFF)positionandengagethe parkingbrake.
2. Lowerthe deckbymovingthedeck liftleverintothe
bottomnotchon therightfender.
3. Removethe belt fromaroundthetractor'sengine
pulleyandidlerpulley(s).RefertoChangingthe Deck
Belton page26for detailedinstructions.
4. Lookingat the cuttingdeckfromthe leftsideof the
tractor,locatethehairpinclip thatsecuresthedeck
supportrodon therearleftsideof thedeck.

5. Removethe hairpin clipthatsecuresthedeck
supportrod,andcarefullyremovethe decksupport
fromthedeck liftarm.
6. Repeatthe abovestepsonthe tractor'srightside.
7. Movethe decklift leverintothetopnotchonthe right
fenderto raisethedeck liftarmsupandout of the
way.
8. Carefullyremovethe PTOcablefromtherearof
thecuttingdeck by removingthe hairpin clipwhich
securesit. Removethe springfromthe deckidler
bracket.SeeFig.6-4.
9. Gentlyslidethe cuttingdecktowardthefrontofthe
tractorallowingthe hooksonthedecktorelease
themselvesfromthedeckstabilizerrod.
10.Gentlyslidethe cuttingdeck(fromtherightside)out
fromunderneaththetractor.
