Pull up the journal platen (the cover) until it stays
open.

Remove the printed journal roll by lifting it up from
underneath. To protect the printed journals, and if
there is sufficient paper left on the supply roll, pull
enough paper from the supply roll to wind around
the journal roll two or three times. Tear the paper
completely across.
