3. Milking
3.1 Milking with automatic or manual cluster removal
From the washing or stand by mode activate the milking mode by pressing the
function key release cluster .
It is also possible to enter the milking mode simultaneously for all MPC-2 s in
a row. To do so first press the Shift
-
key followed, within 2 seconds, by the
function key release cluster .
Th
e display shows the actual cow number on the left, milk yield on the right.
There are two options; milking with automatic removal or milking with manual
removal :
Press function key automatic removal , to start milking with automatic
cluster removal.
Or:
Press function key manual removal , to start milking with manual cluster
removal.
In both cases, the MPC
-2 will now lower the cluster, attach cluster.
During the milking process three horizontal dashes appear on the sixth position
on the display
. These dashes indicate the milking with automatic removal and
represent the phases described below. The dashes will disappear according to
these phases from top to bottom.
An h symbolises milking with manual removal .
After attaching the cluster, th
e milking process can be divided into three
phases:
1.
Neutral start time: during this phase the cow is allowed to get her milk flow
going.
2.
Milk measuring: period of normal milking.
3.
Wait for removal: when the milk yield drops below a certain predefined
thre
shold value, the vacuum will be shut
-
off.
In case of automatic removal the cluster will be removed automatically at
the end of phase 3.
Or:
In case of manual removal the display starts flashing and the MPC-
2 will
wait until the milker presses the release cluster key.
