NOTE 1: IR outputs 1-5 are routed IR outputs. When source 1 is selected, only the emitter
connected to IR 1 out will flash.
NOTE 2: IR emitters are available as infrared (no flash) or visible/infrared (red flash). Either will
work. The visible/infrared emitters are recommended in that they give a visual confirmation of IR
output and can be helpful when troubleshooting.
All – Use any standard IR emitter with 3.5mm mini-phone plug to control a single common
device. (IR controlled lights, drapes, lifts, screens etc.) If there is more than one common device,
use a 3.5mm mini-phone plug with pig tail to connect to the IR and ground input terminals on an
amplified IR connecting block to drive additional emitters. Polarity: Tip = signal; sleeve = ground.
NOTE: The ALL IR output will output IR when any keypad or R-1 button programmed with an IR
command is pressed for any source in any zone.
Paging
The C-6 PAGE feature allows several options depending upon the particular system setup. The
Page feature utilizes the MUTE, PAGE, VIDEO and AUDIO inputs grouped on the back panel of
the controller. The paging function also requires some configuration in the Controller Setup Menu.
Some suggested paging options are:
1. Use the 12VDC MUTE Input to mute zone audio as configured in the Controller Setup Menu,
triggered by a 12V input from a device such as a doorbell or telephone system.
2. Use the 12VDC PAGE Input to switch zones to the Page Audio input as configured in the
Controller Setup Menu to allow whole house paging through the speakers connected to the C-6
Controller using a telephone system with a line level audio output.
3. Use the 12VDC PAGE Input to switch zones to the Page Video input as configured in the
Controller Setup Menu to show a front door security camera when triggered by 12VDC from a
doorbell.
4. Use the 12VDC PAGE Input to switch classrooms or offices to a microphone and camera to be
used by a school principal or corporate executive to address students or employees.
Audio – Connect one RCA to RCA mono audio cable from a line level audio output on the
telephone system or device to be used for paging to the PAGE AUDIO IN on the C-6 Controller.
Video – Connect one RCA to RCA shielded video cable from a composite video output from a
security camera or other video device to be displayed in PAGE mode to the PAGE VIDEO IN on
the C-6 Controller.
Mute – Connect one 2.1mm coaxial plug from the mute jack on the C-6 to the control voltage
output terminal of the device to be used to trigger page mute. Be sure to maintain proper polarity
from the +12V and Ground terminals on the control out to the 2.1mm coaxial plug. Polarity: Pin =
+12VDC, sleeve = ground.
Page – Connect one 2.1mm coaxial plug from the page jack on the C-6 to the control voltage
output terminal of the device to be used to trigger page audio/video. Be sure to maintain proper
polarity from the +12V and Ground terminals on the control out to the 2.1mm coaxial plug.
Polarity: Pin = +12VDC, sleeve = ground.
RS-232
Connect and secure one DB9 cable to the RS-232 port on the C-6 and to the appropriate RS-232
port on the control device. DB9 Pinout: Pin 2: Tx (Transmit), Pin 3: Rx (Receive), Pin 5: GND
(Ground). See section: RS-232 Protocol for additional information.
Trigger
The Trigger terminal outputs 12VDC @ 100mA when any zone on the C-6 Controller, X-1 or X-2
Expansion Controllers is ON. This control voltage can be used to trigger voltage controlled lifts,
screens, drapes or switched AC outlets.
1. Using two conductor wire, strip approximately ¼” of insulation from each conductor. Twist the
strands until tight.
2. Connect the bare wire to the plug-in two terminal screw connector included with the C-6
accessories. Be sure to maintain proper polarity from the + (+12VDC) and – (ground) terminals
