  If the date and time of recording are not correct on your Nikon Digital Camera, it's likely that the camera clock hasn't been set. A “Date not set” indicator blinks during shooting and movie recording if this is the case. Pictures and movies recorded before setting the clock will be dated “00/00/0000 00:00” or “01/01/2010 00:00”. To fix this, set the correct time and date from the Date option in the setup menu. Also, regularly check the camera clock against more accurate timepieces and reset it as needed.

If the camera is in standby mode, press the power switch, the shutter-release button, A button, c button, or b (movie-record) button. If the flash lamp is blinking, wait until it has charged. Also, check if the camera is connected to a computer via USB or to a TV via A/V or HDMI cable. Note that when connected to an electrical outlet using a Charging AC Adapter, the camera cannot be turned on.
