76 Model 5380 PFPD Operator’s Manual
Rev. 3.1
Reinstalling the Detector Body
1. If the large aluminum washer between the detector body and detector base
was dislodged, place a new washer on the detector base using clean metal
forceps.
2. Look through the center of the detector body and guide the detector body over
the combustor support, keeping the combustor support centered in the detec-
tor body.
3. Secure the detector body to the detector base using the two mounting screws
(Part #295295C), keeping any debris from falling into the detector body
through the holes. Using a U/yr" Allen wrench, alternate tightening the screws
until the detector body is touching the detector base.
Installing the Combustor
1. Using the appropriate combustor extractor tool (Part #280719 for 2-mm I.D.
combustor; Part #280727 for 3-mm I.D. combustor), carefully place the
combustor (Part #282939C for 2-mm I.D. combustor; Part #282913C for 3-
mm I.D. combustor) into the hole in the center of the detector body. Lower
the combustor vertically into the hole. If the combustor sticks to the combus-
tor extractor tool, use clean, Teflon-coated forceps to gently pry the combus-
tor off of the extractor tool and into the center hole of the detector body. The
combustor is properly installed when the top of it sits approximately 0.05"
below the surface of the detector body.
2. If the large aluminum washer between the detector body and the detector cap
was dislodged, center a new washer onto the detector body.
3. Install the detector cap on the top of the detector body, centering the large
aluminum seal washer with the counter bore in the ignitor cap.
4. Secure the detector cap with the two detector cap mounting screws (Part
#295287C). Using an Allen wrench, alternately tighten the two screws. A gap
between the detector cap and the detector body will exist; it should be ap-
proximately 0.02" (0.5 mm) the same all around.
5. Reconnect the PMT HV cable to the Detector Controller. Verify that the
signal cables are routed correctly and that they are connected to the Detector
Controller. Verify that the PMT housing is properly seated on the PMT mount
located on the detector body.
6. Turn on the Detector Controller. Using WinPulse, reset the PMT voltage and
ignitor currents to the desired set value.
!
CAUTION:
Due to high
temperatures, the
mounting screws
may become
increasingly
difficult to
reinsert into the
detector body. If
any resistance is
experienced in
reinserting them,
they should be
replaced.
