NOTE: To reduce the risk of infection of blood borne
pathogens, healthcare professionals or caregivers who
assist multiple patients should follow their institution’s
policy on disinfection frequency and disinfect the meter
using the following method.
1. Prepare a fresh (i.e., daily) 10% bleach solution (i.e.,
make a dilution of 1 part bleach to 9 parts water) or
obtain equivalent (0.525% sodium hypochlorite*)
wipes.
2. Clean the outside of the meter with a soft cloth
dampened with a 10% bleach solution or with the
0.525% equivalent sodium hypochlorite wipes.
3. After wiping, cover the surface you are disinfecting
for 1 minute with either the soft cloth dampened
with the bleach solution or with the 0.525%
equivalent sodium hypochlorite wipe.
4. Wipe dry with a clean soft cloth.
