Vehicle care
When caring for your vehicle, observe all
nationa l environmental regulations,
particularly when washing it.
Regula r, thorough care helps to improv e
the appearance of your vehicle and
maintain its value ov er the years. It is also
a prerequisite for warranty claims for any
paint or corrosion dam age. The following
pages contain tips for vehicle care which, if
used properly, w ill help combat the
unavoidable damag ing effects of the
environment.

Washing
The paintwork of your vehicle is exposed to
environmental influences, e.g. continuous
changes in w eather conditions, industrial
waste gases and dust or thawing salts, so
wash and wax your vehicle regularly.
Bird droppings, dead insects, resin,
pollen and the like should b e cleaned off
imm ediately, a s they contain aggressive
constituents which can cause paint
dam age.
If using a car wash, comply with the
pertinent instructions of the car wash
ma nufacturer. The windscre en wipers must
be switched off – see pages 15, 71. Remove
antenna b y unscrewing anti-clockwise.
If y o u wash yo ur vehicle by han d, make
sure that the insides of the wings are also
thoroughly rinsed out.
Clean edges and folds on opened doors
and flaps as well as the a reas they cover.
Thoroughly rinse off and leather-off the
vehicle. Rinse leather frequently. Use
separa te leathers for paint and window
surfaces: rem nants of wax on the windows
will im pair vision.
