98 Infotainment system
General advice
During normal radio reception, you m ay
experience frequency interference and
static if items such as mobile phone
chargers, vehicle convenience a ccessories,
and external elec tronic devices are
plugged into the acc essory power socket.
If there is interference or static, unplug the
item from the ac ces sory power outlet.
FM reception
Despite a high degree of technical
perfection, reception in vehicle radio sets is
different from that in home radio sets
and s ome inte rference may occur, e ven
with FM-RDS stations.
Tall buildings or hills can interfere with FM
signa ls, causing sound to fade in and out.
FM stereo will give the best sound,
but FM signals w ill reach only approx.
16 to 65 km (10 to 40 miles).
AM reception
The range for most AM stations is greater
than for FM, especially at nig ht. The longer
range can cause station frequencies to
interfere with each other. For better radio
reception, most AM radio stations will
boost the power levels during the day, and
then reduce these levels during the night.
Static can also occur when events such as
storms interfere with radio recep tion. When
this happens, try red ucing the treble on
your Infotainment system.
Hand ling C Ds
Handle CDs ca refully. Avoid leaving
fingerprints on the CDs when changing
them . Replace CDs in their cases
immediately after removing them, to stop
them from getting damaged, dusty and
dirty.
Dirt and liquids on CDs m ay make the
Infotainment system s CD play er le ns dirty
and result in malfunctions.
Do not expose C Ds to he at or dire ct
sunlight.
The CD player scans the bottom surface of
the disc. If the surface of a CD is da maged,
e.g. cracked, broken or scratched, the CD
will not play properly or not at all.
If the surface of a CD is soiled, take a soft,
lint-free cloth or dampen a clean, soft cloth
in a mild, neutra l detergent solution mixed
with water, and clean it. Make sure the
wiping p rocess starts from the centre,
going out towards the edge of the disc.
Do not touch the b ottom side of a CD while
handling it; this could damage the surface.
Pick up CDs by grasping the outer edges or
the edge of the hole and the oute r edg e.
