How to Remove the Hard Drive Backplane

Remove all hard drives. See

This ensures that HD/SSDs are detached from the backplane assembly.
Remove the air duct. See
“How to Remove the Air Duct”on page 53.
Disconnect the HD/SSD power cable connector and the four SATA cable connectors from the
backplane assembly.
Remove the eight screws fastening the backplane assembly to the server chassis.
Carefully lift the backplane assembly from the server chassis.
