Reproducing an Advanced Virtual
Surround Sound (V.S.S.) effect
[DVD] (Dolby Digital, 2-channel or over only)
Use this feature to enjoy a surround-like effect if you are using two
front speakers or headphones.
Press [V.S.S.] during play.
Each time this button is pressed, the player’s FL display changes:
a V.S.S. 1 (Natural effect)
b V.S.S. 2 (Emphasized effect)
c V.S.S. is canceled
³The V.S.S. indicator lights when the V.S.S. function is activated.

Enjoying V.S.S. through headphones
1. Press [DISPLAY] twice to show the GUI screen on the
television and select the V.S.S. icon with the cursor buttons
[2, 1].
2. Select the headphone V.S.S. mode with the cursor buttons
[3, 4] [á f Virtual Surround Sound (V.S.S.)”, page 26].
3. Each time [V.S.S.] is pressed, the player’s FL display chang-
es:
d Headphone V.S.S. 1 (Natural effect)
e Headphone V.S.S. 2 (Emphasized effect)
f Headphone V.S.S. is canceled
³Restore speaker mode when you are not using headphones or else
the sound from the speakers will sound strange.
Note
³V.S.S. effect does not work with Karaoke DVDs.
³V.S.S. will not work or will have less effect with some discs.
³Turn off the TV surround sound and other surround sound effects
when using this effect.
³Sound will only come from the two front speakers if V.S.S. is on.
For your reference
³For optimum effect, it is recommended that the distance between
the television and the listening position be about 3 to 4 times the
distance between the right and left front speakers. [C]
³You can also change the V.S.S. level with the GUI screen [á f
Virtual Surround Sound (V.S.S.)”, page 26].
