Problem Cause/solution
Noise is heard, sound cuts
in and out.
R You are using the handset or base unit in an area with high
electrical interference. Re-position the base unit and use the
handset away from sources of interference.
R Move closer to the base unit.
R If you use a DSL/ADSL service, we recommend connecting a
DSL/ADSL filter between the base unit and the telephone line
jack. Contact your DSL/ADSL provider for details.
Sound quality seems to be
getting worse.
R You have registered a handset that is not recommended. The
clearest sound quality is only possible by registering the
provided handset.
The handset does not ring. R The ringer volume is turned off. Adjust ringer volume (page 18,
33).
R Do not disturb mode is turned on. Turn it off (page 37).
R If the handset is registered to multiple base units, the handset
may not be able to make or receive calls or communicate with
the base unit when the following conditions are met.
Eco mode is set to Eco Plus (page 16).
Base unit selection is set to Auto (page 35).
In this case, place the handset near the base unit, and change
the setting to Eco or Off. Repeat for each base unit.
The base unit does not
ring.
R The ringer volume is turned off. Adjust ringer volume (page 18,
33).
I cannot make a call. R You dialled a call restricted number (page 40).
R The key lock feature is turned on. Turn it off (page 22).
I cannot make or answer a
call.
R An outside line is being used after a mobile locator feature is
used.
To end the call, press MMOBILE LOCATORN on the base unit.
I cannot use voice paging. R You cannot use voice paging if other units are in use.
Caller ID/Talking Caller ID
Problem Cause/solution
Caller information is not
displayed.
R You must subscribe to a Caller ID service. Contact your phone
service provider for details.
R If your unit is connected to any additional telephone
equipment, remove and plug the unit directly into the wall jack.
R If you use a DSL/ADSL service, we recommend connecting a
DSL/ADSL filter between the base unit and the telephone line
jack. Contact your DSL/ADSL provider for details.
R Other telephone equipment may be interfering with this unit.
Disconnect the other equipment and try again.
Caller information is
displayed or announced
late.
R Depending on your phone service provider, the unit may
display or announce the caller’s information at the 2nd ring or
later. Set the first ring to Off (page 33).
R Move closer to the base unit.
