15.1. What is HighMAT?
This word combines the abbreviations of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. and High
Performance Media Access Technology, and is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation. The
products with the HighMAT logo shown below are made according to the HighMAT standard.
HighMat is a format that allows users to save digital contents such as photographs, audio and
images on a CD. This gives consistency in the way of reading data when general consumer
products (such as DVD players) and PCs are used, and thus, it is easy to operate for the user.
