Wa ter Pump - Inspect
A failed water
pump may cause severe engine
overheating problems that could result in the following
conditions:
•
Cracks in the cylinder head
•
Apistonsei
zure
•
Other potential damage to the engine
Note: The water pump seal is lubricated by the
coolant in the cooling system. A normal condition is
that a smal
l amount of leakage to occur as the engine
cools down and parts contract.
Visually
inspect the water pumps for leaks. The water
pumps are not serviceable items. Replace a leaking
water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly
for more i
nformation.
