5.2.1 Battery disposal
Battery disposal is regulated differently by different nations and regions. For instance,
Directive 2006/66/EC addresses disposal of batteries in the European Union. In the U.S., it
is regulated by individual states.
5.3 CMOS/UEFI reset
The CMOS is a small chip that stores the UEFI settings, date and time, and other items of
the IPC. It is powered by the real-time clock battery and, if the battery is removed, will likely
lose its settings. It can be reset to the factory defaults using a reset button.
Figure 5-4 CMOS jumpers
To reset the CMOS:
1. Remove the service panel (see “Service panel” on page 17).
2. Remove the jumper JPA (1) from pins 1 and 2.
3. Place jumper between pins 2 and 3 for 3 seconds (reset position).
4. Remove jumper from pins 2 and 3, and reinstall on pins 1 and 2 (the run position).
5. Reinstall the service panel or reattach the case to the display panel.
NOTE:
Dispose of used batteries properly. Always adhere to currently valid national regulations
for battery disposal.
NOTE:
To prevent short circuitry in the collection boxes, insulate the poles of each battery with
insulation tape or put each single battery into a plastic bag.
NOTE:
The CMOS and UEFI reset buttons are intended to be used only by advanced users or if
directed to do so by Phoenix Contact technical service. After the reset, the UEFI will need
to be reconfigured to account for any user-defined settings.
