24. Important safety information
Please read the relevant safety information and limitations-
of-use information on the following pages before using
your CROS device.
Intended use
CROS device: The Phonak CROS device is placed on the
unaidable ear and wirelessly transmits sound to the
compatible Phonak hearing aid on the other ear.
Charger: The charger is intended to charge the battery of
the rechargeable hearing aid.
Indications
CROS device: The device is indicated for unaidable hearing
loss in one ear and better hearing in the other ear.
Charger: please note indications are not derived from the
charger, but from the compatible CROS device.
Contraindications
CROS device: General clinical contraindications for the use
of a CROS device are:
Aidable hearing loss (on the intended CROS side)
Normal hearing (on the intended CROS side)
Special consideration will need to be taken when tting a
CROS device to ears with anatomical deformity (e.g.
microtia, atresia, or incomplete pinna). Care will need to be
taken to provide a secure placement of the CROS device on
these ears.
The primary criteria for the referral of a patient for a
medical or other specialist opinion and / or treatment are as
follows:
History of active drainage from the ear in the previous
90 days
History of sudden or rapidly progressive hearing loss in
one or both ears within the previous 90 days
Acute or chronic dizziness
Unilateral tinnitus which has not been medically
investigated
Visible evidence of signicant cerumen accumulation or
a foreign body in the ear canal
