1.18 Firmware Updates via an SD Card
Firmware updates can be performed using an SD Card for both the Master and Stations.
Latest firmware releases are available for download via the EM-181Mu product page on our website.
NOTE: If you would like to upgrade a single station, to reduce the upgrade time remove ALL other
stations from the bus. The upgrade time per station is ~ 20 minutes.
1.18.1 To perform firmware updates:
1. Insert your SD Card into your PC
2. Ensure your SD Card is formatted to FAT32.
3. For the 181Mu Master controller, copy the EM181.DCF firmware file in root directory.
4. For Station SL and SK units place the firmware in the SA4DCF directory as follows:
▪ SA4DCF\EM181-SK.DCF
▪ SA4DCF\EM181-SL.DCF
5. To upgrade the Master and Stations
a. Insert the SD Card into the EM-181Mu unit
b. The master controller LED will cycle through all RGB colours and as a station is
being updated its status LED will pulse ON and OFF during the upgrade.
If upgrade is successful, all LED’s will return to idle states and the EM-181/SK will say “Passed”.
If the existing firmware in your units matches those on the SD cards, the upgrade process will be
skipped.
If the update was not successful, the master controller status LED will blink red indicating a fault.
1.18.2 How to verify current FW version
1.18.2.1 Dialling in from your mobile handset
1. When dialling into the system, ensure you are not within close proximity to any connected
stations and in a quiet location. If your call is automatically routed to the last station that
made an alarm call, press the following to return to the master controller.
2. Enter the following sequence, to read back the Master Controller firmware version.
1.18.2.2 Verifying Firmware via SD Card System Report
1. Place a blank SD card into EM-181Mu
2. This will generate a report from the EM-181Mu onto the SD Card.
a. This report will include the FW version of the EM-181Mu and all connected stations.
