MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Gearcases
Middle Gearcase (RANGER 6X6)
Always check and change the middle gearcase oil at the intervals
outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page 54.
Maintain the oil level even with th e bottom thread of the fill plug hole.
We recommend the use of Polaris ATV Angle Drive Fluid. See page
99 for the part numbers o f Polaris products.
The middle gearcase fill p lug (1) is located on the driver’s side of the
gearcase.
Oil Check
1. Position the vehicle on a level
surface.
2. Remove the fill pl ug and check
the oil level.
3. Add the recommended fluid as
needed.
4. Reinstall the fill plu g. Torque to
specification. See page 66.
Oil Change
1. Remove the fill pl ug.
2. Remove the drain plug (2) from
the b o t t o m of the gearcase and drain the oil into a drain pan.
Discard used oil properly.
3. Clean and reinstall the drain p lug. Torque to specification. See
page 66.
4. Add the recommended fluid. Refer to the Gearcase Specifications
Chart on page 66.
5. Reinstall the fill plu g. Torque to specificati on. See page 66.
6. Check for leaks.
