If you want to work out indefinitely, you can choose that option by taking the following
steps:
1. Press the key until "1 MIN" appears on the display.
2. Release the key.
3. Press and hold the key for five more seconds.
4. Release the key and "0 MIN" appears on the display indicating an indefinite workout
time. The automatic five-minute, cool-down period will not be appended to the course.
Note: The Hill Climb and Weight Loss course have preset time limits so you will not
be prompted for a workout time when you choose either course. You cannot workout
indefinitely in the Hill Climb or Weight Loss course.
WEIGHT: Acceptable entries range from 1 through 999 (pounds or kilograms). Change
the blinking number using the and keys or accept the displayed number (and
continue in Setup mode) by pressing Enter.
Important: Enter a number that reflects your actual weight since the calorie count
and several other calculations are based on the weight entry.
AGE: Acceptable entries range from 1 to 99 (pounds or kilograms). Change the
blinking number using the and keys or accept the displayed number (and
continue in Setup mode) by pressing Enter.
Important: An age entry is required if you want to use the heart rate interactive
capabilities of the EFX. Refer to
QUICK START
on page 28.
Center Display
The Precor banner, User I.D., setup prompts, course profiles and feature selections
appear in the center display. Prior to working out, prompts guide you through the
Setup mode. Refer to
Setup Mode and Prompts
on page 26.
Once you begin a workout, indicator lights appear next to TIME and course PROFILE.
You can change what appears on the display by pressing the appropriate Select key.
Refer to
Changing the Display Features Using the SELECT Key
on page 28.
The following describes the information that can appear in the display.
TIME: During your workout, a time (0:00) display appears when you begin working
out. Time appears in minutes and seconds. However, should you exceed 60 minutes
(during a single workout), the Time display converts to hours and minutes. Most
often, the Time display shows the amount of time remaining in your workout.
STRIDES: Shows the total number of strides completed. The number will always be
even since two strides create one complete revolution of the flywheel. A stride is an
exaggerated walking movement. On the EFX, if you start in a position with one foot
forward and one foot back, a stride is completed when you move the rear foot all the
way forward while the forward foot moves to the rear.
STRIDES/MINUTE: Displays your current pedaling speed. Note that when the strides
per minute drops below 20, the EFX reverts to Pause mode. (Refer to page 23.)
Important: The display may not change as quickly as your stride. For example, when
you stop suddenly from a high stride rate, the display does not immediately change
to zero. Instead, it gradually decreases until it reaches zero.
CALORIES: Provides an estimate of the cumulative number of calories burned. The
calorie calculation is derived from the pedaling speed, resistance level, and your
weight. An accurate weight entry results in a more accurate calorie count.
PROFILE: At the beginning of a course, the profile appears on the right side of the
display and corresponds to the course that you selected. As you proceed through your
workout, your position in the course is indicated by a blinking column. The height of the
column indicates the level of resistance. Every time the resistance changes by 3 sequen-
tial levels (up or down) the height of the column changes by one cell. (A 3 to 1 ratio).
