Manual Course: Resistance changes are completely under your control. The profile
is initially a flat line. If changes are made to the resistance, the course profile reflects
the changes in all subsequent segments. The blinking cursor indicates your position
on the course.
Note: Pressing Quick Start at the Precor banner bypasses the user I.D. selection
and lets you start your workout immediately using the Manual course. Default values
apply. Refer to
The Setup Mode and the Quick Start Feature
on page 22.
Cross Training Interval Course: The course consists of alternating segments of
forward and backward pedaling movements that focus on working the thigh and calf
muscle groups. Display prompts indicate when you should change pedal direction.
Set the resistance levels during the forward and backward intervals and the software
remembers the settings. Each subsequent forward and backward interval uses the
same resistance levels until you change them.
Hill Climb Course: The course is fixed at 30 minutes and the resistance is predeter-
mined. After making this course selection during the Setup mode, you are not
prompted for a workout time. You can override the resistance settings during the
course by pressing the Resistance ▼▲ keys. The changes are saved and applied
the next time you work out using the Hill Climb course.
Interval Course: The interval course is one of the best for conditioning your cardio-
vascular system. The course is designed to raise and lower your heart rate in a
repeating fashion for an indefinite period of time.
The interval course on the EFX lets you determine the rest and work interval times
that best fit your training regimen. Once you begin the course, you are prompted to
set the resistance for the first rest and first work intervals. The software takes over
from there, repeating the intervals throughout the course. Once you complete the
course, it can be automatically recalled using the same user I.D. and course number.
Note: The length of time for each interval is requested when you choose the INTV
course during the Setup mode.
To set the length of time for each rest and work interval, take the following steps:
1. Starting at the Precor banner, select your User I.D. by pressing the Select [1] or
Select [2] key.
2. Press Enter.
3. Use the Resistance ▼ or ▲ key to display the INTV course.
4. Press Enter.
5. A prompt (example: REST 3 MIN) appears stating the number of minutes
designated as the rest interval. You can change the number of minutes from 1
through 9 by pressing the Resistance ▼ or ▲ keys.
6. When the display shows correct number, press Enter.
7. A prompt (example: WORK 5 MIN) appears stating the number of minutes
designated as the work interval. The range of minutes available is 1 through 9.
Press the Resistance ▼ or ▲ keys to change the display.
8. To exit the Setup mode and begin working out in the Interval course, press
Quick Start.
Random Course: Every time a Random course is selected, a different course profile
appears. The one-minute segments that appear in the course profile maintain a set
resistance that you can override by pressing the Resistance ▼ or ▲ keys. Note that
the maximum change allowed between segments is + or - 4 resistance levels.
