What to do if I am unable to locate the QNAP TS-h987XU-RP Storage during QuTS hero installation?

      Allison DavisAug 8, 2025
If you are unable to locate the QNAP Storage device during QuTS hero installation, it may be due to faulty drives or data. To resolve this, power off the NAS, remove all drives, then power the NAS back on. Use Qfinder Pro or myQNAPcloud to locate the NAS. Once found, reinsert the drives and continue with the QuTS hero installation.

To replace a failed drive in your QNAP Storage, log in to QuTS hero, then navigate to Main Menu > Storage & Snapshots > Storage > Disks/VJBOD. Find the failed drive, and prepare a new hard drive. Ensure the new drive has the same or larger capacity than the failed one. Remove the old drive, wait for about 20 seconds (or until you hear two beeps), take the failed drive out of its tray, put the new drive in the tray, and then install the new drive.
