2. Power on the expansion unit.
3. Verify that the expansion unit is recognized by the NAS.
a. Log on to QuTS hero as administrator.
b. Go to Main Menu > Storage & Snapshots > Overview > System .
c. Verify that the expansion unit is listed.
QuTS hero Installation
The TS-h987XU-RP uses the QNAP QuTS hero operating system. You can install QuTS hero using any of the
following methods.
You can also install the QNAP QTS operating system. If your NAS is connected to the internet, the option to
install QTS will appear in the Smart Installation Guide wizard using any of the methods in the table. You can
also manually download the QTS rmware from https://download.qnap.com.
Warning
QTS and QuTS hero use dierent le systems. Switching operating systems will reset the
NAS and delete all data.
