Installationsthatincludemultipleinstancesofdatasourcescan
causedataconicts.Anexampleisaninstallationfeaturingmore
thanonesourceofGPSdata.
MDSenablesyoutomanageconictsinvolvingthefollowingtypes
ofdata:
•GPSPosition.
•Heading.
•Depth.
•Speed.
•Wind.
Typicallythisexerciseiscompletedaspartoftheinitialinstallation,
orwhennewequipmentisadded.
IfthisexerciseisNOTcompletedthesystemwillautomatically
attempttoresolvedataconicts.However,thismayresultinthe
systemchoosingasourceofdatathatyoudonotwanttouse.
IfMDSisavailablethesystemcanlisttheavailabledatasources
andallowyoutoselectyourpreferreddatasource.ForMDStobe
availableallproductsinthesystemthatusethedatasourceslisted
abovemustbeMDS-compliant.Thesystemcanlistanyproducts
thatareNOTcompliant.Itmaybenecessarytoupgradethe
softwareforthesenon-compliantproductstomakethemcompliant.

latestsoftwareforyourproducts.IfMDS-compliantsoftwareisnot
availableandyoudoNOTwantthesystemtoautomaticallyattempt
toresolvedataconicts,anynon-compliantproduct(s)canbe
removedorreplacedtoensuretheentiresystemisMDS-compliant.

Thismenuenablesyoutoselecttheexternalsensorsanddevicesthatwillprovidedatatothedisplay.
Auto/manualselection
Eachdialogenablesyoutoviewandselectyourpreferreddata
source.selectionofdatasourcecanbemanualorsettoautomatic:
•Auto—thedisplaywillautomaticallyselectadeviceandattempt
toresolveanydataconictsthatmayoccurwherethereismore
thanonesourceofdataforthatparticulardatasource(for
example,multipleGPSreceivers).
•Manual—oncethedisplayhasperformedasearchforconnected
devicesyoucanmanuallyselectthepreferreddevicefromthelist.
Note:SelectingtheAutooptionmayresultinthesystem
choosingasourceofdatathatyoudonotwanttouse.

GPSEnablesyoutosearchforanyexternally-connectedGPSdevices,andselecttheoneyouwant
touse.
GPSDatumInorderforyourGPSreceiverandmultifunctiondisplaytocorrelateaccuratelywithyourpaper
charts,theymustbeusingthesamedatum.Thisoptionenablesyoutochoosethedatasource
forthisdatum.
TimeandDate
Enablesyoutoselectthedeviceyouwanttouseforthetimeanddateinformationusedbythe
display.
Heading
Enablesyoutoselectthedeviceyouwanttouseforheadingdata.
Depth
Enablesyoutoselectthedeviceyouwanttousefordepthdata.
SpeedEnablesyoutoselectthedeviceyouwanttouseforspeeddata.
