TheAIS650isanAIStransceiverunitthatusesdigitalradiosignals
toexchange'real-time'informationwithothervessels,landbase
stations,oraidtonavigation(AToNs)stationsequippedwithClass
AorClassBAIStransceivers.
Thisinformationisusedtoidentifyandtrackvesselsinthe
surroundingareaandtoprovidefast,automaticandaccurate
collisionavoidancedata.
4.2Staticdatarequirement
TheAIStransceiverneedstobecorrectlyprogrammedwiththe
followingvesseldata(staticdata)beforeuse:
•VesselMaritimeMobileServiceIdentity(MMSI)number
•Vesselname
•Vesselcallsign
•VesseldimensionsincludingAISGPSantennalocation
•Vesseltype
AMMSInumbercomprises9digits,andafull,valid9digitvalue
mustbeenteredinordertobeacceptedduringsetup.Anynumber
thatdoesnotmeetthesecriteriawillnotbeacceptedbythesystem.
Allotherelds(i.e.vesseltype,nameetc.)areoptional.
IfyourvesselalreadyhasanMMSInumber(usedforaVHFDSC
radio)thenthesameMMSInumbermustbeusedtoprogramthe
transceiver.
IfavalidMMSInumberisnotentered,thedevicewillenterSilent
Modeandwillnottransmit.However,itwillstilloperateasareceiver.
Important:IntheUnitedStatesofAmerica,theMMSIand
StaticDatamustbeenteredonlybyaRaymarinedealeror
otherappropriatelyqualiedinstallerofmarinecommunications
equipmentonboardvessels.TheuserisNOTauthorizedtodo
this.
InEuropeandotherpartsoftheworldoutsideoftheUnitedStates
ofAmerica,theMMSIandStaticDatacanbesetupbytheuser.
