•InsystemswhichdoNOTincludeaVHFradio,connectaVHF
antennadirectlytotheVHFANTconnectionontheAISunit.
•InsystemswhichincludeaVHFradio,aseparateAIS/VHF
splitter(suchastheRaymarineAIS100)isrecommended.This
splitterdeviceiscapableoftakingaVHFsignalfromasingle
antennaandprovidingthesignalto2separatedevices(e.g.AIS
unitandVHFradio)atthesametime.The“AIS”outputfromthe
splittershouldbeconnectedtotheVHFANTconnectiononthe
AISunit.
•RefertotheTypicalsystemssectionforexamplesonhowto
maketheseconnections.
GPSantennaconnection
TheGPSsuppliedaspartofyourAIStransceiversystemhasa
tted10m(33ft)cabletoconnecttothetransceiver'sGPSantenna
connector.
ConnectthecablefromtheGPSantennatotheGPSconnectoron
theundersideoftheAIStransceiver.
IftheGPSisnotconnected,thetransceiverwilloperateinSilent
Modeandanalarmmessagewillbegenerated.Youmust
acknowledgeallalarmmessages.Thetransceiverwillnottransmit,
butwillstillreceive.
GPSdataforexternaldevices
TheGPSreceiversuppliedwiththeAIS650unitisintendedto
provideGPSdatatotheAISunitonly.
TopreventpotentialGPSdataconictsand/orperformanceissues,
theGPSreceiversuppliedwiththeAIS650unitshouldNOTbe
usedtoprovideGPSdatatomultifunctiondisplaysoranyother
externaldevice.TheabilitytoconguretheProAIS2softwareto
outputGPSdatafromtheAISunitonitsNMEA0183connectionis
intendedfordiagnosticpurposesonly.Raymarinerecommends
