The gain or frequency settings may be inappropriate for the current conditions, so check the sounder presets, gain, and frequency settings. A unit power supply fault can also affect the transmitting power, so check the voltage from the power supply. Ensure that the power, transducer, and all other cables are properly connected and free from damage. Verify that the transducer is mounted correctly and is clean. For transom-mount transducers, check that it hasn’t kicked up. If the vessel is stationary, fish arches will not be displayed; instead, fish will appear as straight lines. High vessel speed can cause turbulence around the transducer, which may confuse the unit. Adjusting the scroll speed may also help.
