Generallocationrequirements
Theunitshouldbemountedwhereitwillbe:
•protectedfromphysicaldamageandexcessivevibration.
•wellventilatedandawayfromheatsources.
•awayfromanypotentialignitionsourcesuchasengineroom,
nearfueltanksoragaslocker.
Whenchoosingalocationfortheunit,considerthefollowingpoints
toensurereliableandtroublefreeoperation:
•Access—theremustbesufcientspacebelowtheunittoenable
cableconnectionstotheunit,avoidingtightbendsinthecable.
•Diagnostics—theunitmustbemountedinalocationwherethe
diagnosticsLEDiseasilyvisible.
•Interference—theunitshouldbemountedfarenoughaway
fromanyequipmentthatmaycauseinterferencesuchasmotors,
generatorsandradiotransmitter/receivers.
•Magneticcompass—mounttheunitatleast1m(3ft.)away
fromamagneticcompass.
•Power—Theunitmustbelocatednearadcpowersource.The
powercablesuppliedis1.5m(5ft.)inlength.
Cableroutingrequirements
Considerthefollowingbeforeinstallingthesystemcables:
•Youwillneedtoattachpower,transducerandnetworkcables
totheunit.
•Allcablesshouldbeadequatelysecured,protectedfromphysical
damage,andprotectedfromexposuretoheat.
•Avoidsharpbendsincables.
•Useawatertightfeed-throughwhereveracablepassesthrough
anexposedbulkheadordeckhead.
•Securecablesinplaceusingtie-wrapsorlacingtwine.Coilany
extracableandtieitoutoftheway.
•DoNOTruncablesthroughbilgesordoorways,orcloseto
movingorhotobjects.
•DoNOTruncablesneartoenginesoruorescentlights.
Alwaysroutedatacablesasfarawayaspossiblefrom:
•otherequipmentandcables,
•highcurrentcarryingacanddcpowerlines,
•antennas.
