shouldbeusedforallequipment.Theunitcanbe
groundedbyconnectingtheshield(drain)wireof
thepowercabletothevessel'sRFgroundpoint.
OnvesselswithoutanRFgroundsystemtheshield
(drain)wireshouldbeconnecteddirectlytothe
negativebatteryterminal.
Thedcpowersystemshouldbeeither:
Negativegrounded,withthenegativebattery
terminalconnectedtothevessel'sground.
Floating,withneitherbatteryterminalconnected
tothevessel'sground
Warning:Positivegroundsystems
Donotconnectthisunittoasystemwhich
haspositivegrounding.
4.4Volvoengineconnections
TheECI–100canconnecttocompatibleVolvoPenta
engineElectronicVesselControl(EVC)systems.
TheECI–100enablesenginedatatobedisplayed
onaRaymarine
®
MFD.InconjunctionwithanEV2
autopilottheECI-100allowsfullsteeringcontrolof
IPSandAquamaticdrive-by-wiresteeringcontrol
systems,withouttheneedforaproprietaryautopilot
gateway.
Newersystemswithamulti-linkhubavailable
NewandrecentVolvoPentaengineEVCsystems
shouldhaveamulti-linkhubavailable.Thehubwill
have6connections,1ofwhichmustbeavailablein
ordertoconnecttheECI-100.
Volvolinkcable(E70240)isrequired,Thiscable
mustbeconnectedtotheDeviceNetconnectoron
theECI-100andanavailableconnectorontheVolvo
Multi-linkhub.
IfaVolvoIPSorAquamaticsteeringsystemistted
thenconnectinganEV2asshownwillalsoprovide
fulldrive–by–wiresteeringcontrol.
