1Generalcablingguidance
Cabletypesandlength
Itisimportanttousecablesoftheappropriatetypeandlength.
•UnlessotherwisestatedonlyusecablessuppliedbyRaymarine.
•Whereitisnecessarytousenon-Raymarinecables,ensurethattheyareofcorrectqualityand
gaugefortheirintendedpurpose.(e.g.:longerpowercablerunsmayrequirelargerwiregaugesto
minimizevoltagedropalongtherun).
Strainrelief
Useadequatestrainreliefforcablingtoensurethatconnectorsareprotectedfromstrainandwillnot
pulloutunderextremeseaconditions.
Cableshielding
Ensurethatcableshieldingisnotdamagedduringinstallationandthatallcablesareproperly
shielded.
Caution:Transducercable
•DoNOTusethetransducercabletoliftorsuspendthetransducer;always
supportthetransducerbodydirectlyduringinstallation.
•DoNOTcut,shorten,orsplicethetransducercable.
•DoNOTremovetheconnector.
Ifthecableiscut,itcannotberepaired.Cuttingthecablewillalsovoidthe
warranty.
4.2Cablerouting
Cableroutingrequirementsforthetransducercable .
Important:T oavoidinterference,thecablemustberoutedasfarawayfromVHFradioantenna
cablesaspossible.
Important:Thetransducercable ’sconnectorissuppliedwithaseparatelockingcollarassembly,
usedtosecurethecablefirmlytoaRealVision™3Dsonar-capabledevice(e.g.AxiomRV
multifunctiondisplay).Ensurethatyouroutethecableallthewaytothe3Dsonar-capabledevice
beforeattachingthelockingcollar.
•Checkthatthecableislongenoughtoreachtheequipmentitwillbeconnectedto .Ifyou
areinstallingsplit-pairtransducers,youmustuseaY-cable(A80478)alongwithanextension
cabletoconnectthetransducerstoyourRealVision™3Dsonar-capabledevice(e.g.AxiomRV
multifunctiondisplay).
•Usegrommetsinanypass-throughholestopreventdamagetothetransducercable.
•Securethecableatregularintervalsusingcableclips(notsupplied).
•Takecarenottoapplyexcessivestraintothecablewhereitleavesthetransducer.Wherepossible,
allowthecabletolaynaturallyasitleavesthetransducer,beforesecuringitwithcableclips.
•Donotbendthetransducercablebeyonditsminimumbendradius.Thisisparticularlyimportantat
thepointwherethecableleavesthetransducer.
•Anyexcesscableshouldbecoiledupataconvenientlocation.
RealVision™3Dtransducerextensioncable
Forbestperformance,cablerunsshouldbekepttoaminimum.However,forsomeinstallations
(includingallsplit-pairtransducerinstallations)itmaybenecessarytoextendthetransducercable.
