Chapter 1: Basic operation
1.1 Introduction
T he SmartPilot cont roller is a SeaT alk® compatible autopilot co ntrol unit. It is
design ed as the main controll er for the SmartPilot system.
T he SmartPilot cont roller operates in the followin g modes:
•
Standby:
SmartPilot off . Y ou have manual cont rol of the boat.
•
Auto:
T he SmartPilot steers the boat to maintain a locked heading.
•
Track:
Th e SmartPilot steers the boat to maintain a track between two way
poin ts created on a navigation ai d.
•
Wind V ane:
The SmartPilot steers the boat to maintain a course relative to a
true or app arent wind angle.
T he SmartPilot cont roller also provides:
• autom atic tack (AutoT ack) in Au to and Wind V ane modes .
• way point advance featu re in T rack mode.
SmartPilot Functions
T he functions provid ed with your SmartPilo t system depend on whether the
SmartPi lot computer contains a GyroPlu s yaw sensor to measure the boat’ s rate
of turn.
