Note:
You will lose th ese tempor ary changes to r espons e level whenever t he syst em is
powered off. You can make permanent adjustments in User Calibration (See page 31). This
determines the d efault poweru p r espons e level.
Adjusting per formance
TillerP ilot (and gyr o upgraded WheelPilot)
S1 T illerPilot (and gy ro upgraded Wh eelPilot) systems ha ve 9 levels of response:
level 9 t o 7
give the tightest co urse keeping an d greatest rudder activity
(and power consumption). T his can lead to a rough passage in open waters as
the SmartPi lot may ‘fight’ th e sea.
levels 6 t o 4
should give go od course keep ing with crisp , well controlled
turns un der normal operatin g conditions .
level 3 to 1
minimizes the amount of pilot activity . This conserves power, but
may co mpromise shortterm co ursekeepin g accuracy .
With these p oints in mind, y ou should use the following procedure to make
tempor ary adjustments to the resp onse level when required:
1. Display the
RESPONSE
screen by p ressing the
1
and
+1
butto ns tog ether
momentarily.
Note:
The
RESPONSE
screen is set as a default data p age (see Smart Pilot Co mmis
sion ing Gu ide) so you can also access it by pr essing
disp
and th en scrolli ng thr ough the
data pages .
2. Press
1
or
+1
buttons
to chang e the response level.
3. Press
disp
or wait for 5 seco nds to return to the previou s display.
