ETHERNET
The IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway parameters must be statically
configured on all IP-connected controllers that are running as a BBMD. All other IP-
connected controllers may use DHCP for dynamic configuration.
FIGURE 42: ETHERNET GROUP
TABLE 12: ETHERNET GROUP FIELDS
Field Description
MAC The MAC address is a unique number set in the factory by
manufacturers of Ethernet compatible products for each device. The
MAC address is not adjustable in the field. The first three groups of
numbers in the MAC address are assigned by IEEE, and are
Organizationally Unique Identifiers (OUI) for each manufacturer. For
example, 00-02-D9 identifies devices manufactured by Reliable
Controls. The fourth group identifies the individual product and the
remaining groups are based on the serial number of the product.
MTU The Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) is the maximum bytes in a
single data packet. The maximum possible setting MTU value is 1500,
which is also the Reliable Controls standard. The MTU field should not
be adjusted unless it is required by the building network administrator.
Enable
DHCP
Allows the MACH-Pro(Web)Com to receive its IP address, subnet
mask, default gateway, and DNS server configuration from the LAN’s
DHCP server. DHCP can be used for all IP-connected controllers that
are not running as BBMD. When a controller is configured for BBMD, it
must use a static IP address. If DHCP is enabled the remaining fields
will be grayed out and reflect the current DHCP assigned values.
IP Address IP addresses are 32-bit numbers commonly represented in dotted
decimal notation (###.###.###.###). Each of the four groups, or
octets, represents eight bits of binary data and can have a decimal
value of 0–255.
A Reliable Controls MACH-System installation utilizing IP
communications will either use a dedicated network (e.g., only MACH-
System communications allowed), or joined to a non-dedicated
network, with MACH-System and non-MACH-System traffic running
concurrently.
