332 - Maintenance
To close the bonnet again, hold it in
the middle and release it around 30 cm
above the closed position.
If necessary, press down along the
bonnet to lock completely.
Never handle the struts
when closing the engine
bonnet.
Ensure that the bonnet is
properly locked.
Check that nothing is
preventing the catch
from locking (gravel, cloth, etc.).
After any procedure in
the engine compartment,
make sure that you do
not forget anything
(cloth, tools, etc.).
Otherwise,thismayleadtoen-
gine damage or cause a fire.
In the event of even a
slight impact involving
theradiatorgrilleorbon-
net, have the bonnet
lock checked by an approved
Dealer as soon as possible.
Engine oil
General information
It is normal for an engine to use oil for
lubrication and cooling of moving parts
anditisnormaltotopupthelevelbe-
tween oil changes.
However,contactyourapprovedDeal-
erifmorethan0.11gal(0.5litre)isbe-
ing consumed every 600 miles (1,000
km) after the running in period.
Oil change frequency: check the oil
level from time to time and certainly
before any long journey to avoid the
risk of damaging your engine.
Exceeding the maxi
mum engine oil level
Under no circumstances
shouldthemaximumfill-
ing level

beexceeded:this
could damage the engine and the
emission control system. If the oil
level exceeds the maximum level,
do not start your vehicle and
contact an approved dealer.
Reading the oil level
The oil level should be read with the
vehicleonlevelground,aftertheen-
gine has been switched off for some
time.
The dipstick must be used to read
the exact oil level and make sure
that the maximum level has not
been exceeded (risk of engine dam
age).

mum.
