50 - Getting to know your vehicle
General information

Unlocking the doors and luggage
compartment.

The card is used for:
– locking/unlockingtheopeningele-
ments (doors, luggage compartment
and fuel filler flap);
– switchingonthevehiclelightingre-
motely;
– automatic remote opening/closing of
the electric windows 🡺317.
Depending on the vehicle,
you may have a digital key
that offers all the functions
of the card. However, if a card
has been left inside the vehicle
and the doors have been locked
with a digital key, all of the card's
functions will be inhibited.

Range
Make sure that the correct battery type
is being used, and that the battery is in
good condition and inserted correctly.
Its service life is approximately two
years:replaceitwhenthe"Cardbat-

strument panel 🡺56.
card operating range
Thisvariesaccordingtothesurround-
ings: take care not to accidentally lock
or unlock the vehicle by inadvertently
pressing the buttons on the card.
Note:ifadoorortheluggagecom-
partment door is open or not properly
shut, the vehicle will not be locked. A
beep sounds and the hazard warning
lights and side repeaters do not flash.
If the battery is flat, you can
still lock/unlock and start
your vehicle 🡺62 🡺160.
"Remote lighting" function
Press button
4
to switch on the dipped
beamheadlightsandtheexteriorlight-
ing for approximately 20 seconds. This
can be used, for example, to identify
the vehicle from a distance when
parked in a car park.
