Cleaning
ItisimperaƟvethatcontrolcompar tments,burners,
andcirculaƟngairpassagewaysoftheappliancebe
keptclean.
Cleanasfollows:
1. Turnoīanddisconnectelectri calpower.Allowto
cool.
2. Closethewatershutoīvalves.Removeandclean
thewaterinletfilter.
3. Removethefront
panelbyremoving4screws.
4. Usepressurizedairtoremovedustfromthemain
burner,heatexchanger,andfanblades.Donot
useawetclothorspraycleanersontheburner.
DonotusevolaƟlesubstancessuchasbenzene
andthinners.Theymayigniteorfadethepaint.

5. UsesoŌdryclothtowipecabinet.
VentSystem
Theventsystemshouldbeinspectedatleastannually
forblockagesordamage.Iftheventisblocked
contactalicensedprofessional.
Motors
Motorsarepermanentlylubricatedanddonotneed
periodiclubricaƟon.Howeveryoumustkeepfanand
motorfreeofdustanddirtbycleaningannually.
TemperatureController
UseasoŌdampclothtocleanthetemperature
controller.Donotusesolvents.
Lime/ScaleBuildͲup
IfyoureceivediagnosƟccode“LC#”(LC1,LC2,…),
refertotheprocedure,Flushing the Heat Exchanger.
RefertothesecƟononWater Quality toseeifyour
waterneedstobetreatedorcondiƟoned.(When
checkingmaintenancecod ehistory,“00”is
subsƟtutedfor“LC#”.)
SnowAccumulaƟon
Keeptheareaaroundflueterminalfreeofsnowand
ice.TheappliancewillnotfuncƟonproperlyifthe
intakeairorexhaustisimpeded(blockedorparƟally
blocked)byobstrucƟons.
Cleanthewaterfilter
Cleantheinletwaterfilterbyclosingthecoldandhot
waterinletisolaƟon(shutͲoī)valves.Putabucket
underthefilterattheboƩomofthewaterheaterto
catchanywaterthatiscontainedinsidetheunit.
Unscrewthewaterfilter.Rinsethe
filtertoremove
anydebris.InstallthefilterandopentheisolaƟon
valves.
RequiredMaintenance
Toprotectyourselffromharm,beforeperformingmaintenance:
x Turnoītheelectri calpowersupplybyunpluggingthepowercordorbyturningoītheelectricityatthe
circuitbreaker.(Thetemperaturecontrollerdoesnotcontroltheelectricalpower.)
x Turnoīthegasatthemanualgasvalve,usuallylocatedimmediatelybelowthewaterheater.
x Turnoīthei ncomingwatersupply.ThiscanbedoneattheisolaƟonvalveimmediatelybelowthewater
heaterorbyturningoīthewatersupplytothebuilding.

KeeptheapplianceareaclearandfreefromcombusƟblematerials,gasoline,andother
flammablevaporsandliquids.
