6. XC-540MT : Installing the Ink Cartridges
For XC-540, refer to "XC-540: Installing the Ink Cartridge" on page 35.
Ink Mode
For XC-540MT, the ink mode must be selected based on the types of ink to be used.

○White-Metallic Silver mode
In addition to the respective ink cartridges of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black, each one of White and Metal-
lic Silver are used.
○White mode
In addition to the respective ink cartridges of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black, two of White are used. (Metallic
Silver ink cannot be used.)
Filling with Ink for the First Time
Special procedures are required when installing ink cartridges for the rst time. These are required only once,
when installing ink cartridges for the rst time after shipment from the factory. Firstly, clean the print heads
with the cleaning cartridges, and then ll with the inks of each color.
This operation requires four UNUSED SOL INK cleaning cartridges.
Never under any circumstances use anything other than the specied type of ink or cleaning
uid.
Applying the Labels (White Mode Only)
In selecting the White mode, afx the cartridge-slot labels on the locations shown in the gure
below.
