3Start-up
3.1 Safety
The following special instructions are applicable for transport, erection, installation and initial start up:
Only lift the gas condensing boiler by the carrying straps provided for this purpose. Lifting or displacing the gas condensing
boiler by the panels can damage the unit.
The erection surface must be firm, flat and horizontal. Install a pedestal if necessary.
Observe requirements for the installation room (see chapter 1.5).
The firing ordinance valid for the country and DIN 18160 are applicable for the execution and measurement of the flue gas
system. The properties of the flue gas system must be clearly evident on the system (nameplate in the installation room).
The specialised company carrying out the work must come to an agreement with the district chimney sweep before beginning
the work. We recommend documenting the participation of the district chimney sweep in a form sheet.
The electrical connection should only be performed by electrical engineers in compliance with valid standards and guidelines
as well as the specifications of the energy supply company.
Work on the gas-conducting parts must be carried out only by heating experts authorised and trained by the gas or energy
supply company.
Make the gas connection according to the technical rules for gas installation as well as the relevant specifications of the
country of destination and of the gas supply company.
The functioning of the safety temperature limiting (STB) must be tested before the final initial start-up and the gas burner
must be set exactly by using a flue gas analyser.
3.2 Instructions for erection
Scope of delivery
The gas condensing boiler (pre-assembled),
Accessories package (switch valve, T-piece, ball cocks, external temperature sensor(s), seals, double box nuts),
Flexible condensate drain hose.
Erection versions
The gas condensing boilers are designed generally for the ambient-air-independent operation. They are fitted with a concentric
flue gas /air supply connection DN 80/125. ROTEX recommends using the gas condensing boiler in ambient air-independent mode.
If possible, choose this installation version!
In conditional ambient air-dependent and in ambient air dependent operation, the installation room must have a ventilation
opening of at least 150 cm
2
to open air. As such, the installation room will not be assigned the heated building envelope under
the Energy Conservation Ordinance (EnEV), which downgrades the energy rating of the building.
Installation height
The bottom edge of the condensate outlet connection to the appliance must be higher than the outlet height of the condensate
discharge hose, otherwise condensate can dam up in the outlet. If installing with an extension storage tank, keep a boiler pedestal
height of at least 80 mm.
Dirt filter in the heating return flow
If the gas condensing boiler is connected to a heating system in which pipelines or heating bodies of steel, or diffusion-permeable
floor heating pipes are inserted, slurry and chips can reach into the boiler and cause choking, local overheating or corrosion
damage. ROTEX recommends, therefore, installing a dirt filter into the heating return path.
WARNING!
A gas condensing boiler that was improperly erected and taken into service can endanger human life and
health and its functioning adversely affected.
Erection and initial start-up of the gas calorific value boiler only by - heating experts authorised and
trained by the gas calorific value boiler company.
Incorrect start-up voids the manufacturer's guarantee for the device.
