9.1 Possible symptoms of faults - Causes of faults - Remedies to apply
Defaults Root causes Remedies
• Paint no longer comes out of
the gun
• Nozzle partially or completely
clogged
• Disassemble and clean the
nozzle with solvent and a
smooth brush
• Check the condition of the
seal.
• The spray narrows at pump
reversals.
• Viscosity too high.
• Dilute the paint.
• The head frequently gets dirty
• Too much air.
• Reduce air pressure.
• The paint comes out through
the air holes in the head.
• Defective nozzle seal.
• Replace it.
• Insufficiently tight nozzle
• Tighten it.
• Product leakage at the trim
level
• Worn seal.
• Tighten the liner press
without blocking the
needle.
• If the leak is still present,
replace the seal and
needle.
• Product leakage at the front of
the gun, trigger released
• Impurities in the product
• Worn out needle or/and worn
out nozzle
• Pull the trigger 3 or 4
times and let it go back on
its own.
• Replace the needle and/or
nozzle.
• Air leakage at the valve
• Worn valve
• Changing the valve
• Permanent air leakage at the
gun head when trigger is
released
• Rubbing on the needle
• Worn valve
• Remove the trigger and
check that the needle
slides freely.
