Malfunctions
8.2 Emergency action
Plant operators are responsible for emergen-
cy action to be taken in the plant.
In the event of a valve malfunction:
1. Closetheshut-offvalvesupstreamand
downstream of the control valve to stop
theprocessmediumfromowing
through the valve.
2. Perform troubleshooting (see sec-
tion8.1).
3. Rectify those malfunctions that can be
remedied based on the instructions pro-
videdhere.Contactourafter-salesser-
vice in all other cases.
Putting the device back into operation after
a malfunction

Malfunction Possible reasons Recommended action
The valve leaks to the
atmosphere (fugitive
emissions).
Defective packing Replace packing (see the 'Servicing' section) or
contact our after-sales service.
Diaphragm defective Replace diaphragm (see the 'Servicing' section) or
contact our after-sales service.
Flanged joint loose or
gasket worn out
Checktheangedjoint.
Replacegasketattheangedjointorcontactour
after-sales service.
Contact our after-sales service for malfunctions not listed in the table.
