8. FUNCTION CHECK
Perform a function check prior to each use.
A complete function check includes:
visual inspection for mechanical damage
checking the alignment of the device
visual and function check of the display elements
function check of all the controls shown in the section entitled “Overview”
function check of optional accessories
If you notice any faults or deviations during the function check, first try to
resolve the error with the aid of the section entitled “What do I do if ...” in this
document.
CAUTION!
Personal injury
If you notice any faults or deviations during the function check which
cannot be resolved with the aid of the section entitled “What do I do if
...” in this document, you may not use the device.
Have the device repaired by seca service or by an authorized service
partner.
Follow the section entitled “Servicing” in this document.
9. WHAT DO I DO IF...?
Problem Cause/solution
... the message "FAIL" appears during
calibration?
Calibration has failed.
- Check whether you have used the reference measuring device supplied
- Check whether you placed the reference measuring device centrally on
the feet of the lower part of the device (see "Calibrating height measure-
ment" on page 78)
- Check whether any objects or people are in the immediate vicinity of the
device during calibration (see "Setting up the device" on page 74)
... no weight is displayed with a load
on the scale.
The device has no power supply.
- Check whether the scale is switched on
- Check whether batteries are inserted (devices with battery operation)
- Check whether there is a power supply (devices operated by the
electricity supply)
... the status LED does not come on?
The modular cable in the ultrasound measuring head has not been plugged
in properly
- Check whether the modular cable in the ultrasound measuring head is
correctly plugged in
Ultrasound measurement is deactivated
- Restart the device
The status LED is faulty
- Inform seca Service
... no patient instructions are
announced?
Announcement of patient instructions is not activated
- Activate function (see "Activating/deactivating announcement of patient
instructions (InStr)" on page 86)
Ultrasound measurement is deactivated
- Restart the device
Volume set to zero
- Increase volume
Loudspeaker is faulty
- Inform seca Service
