COOLANT
Control or maintain engine coolant levels through a recovery
system. The recovery system components are the auxiliary tank,
radiator, radiator pressure cap and connection hose.
As the operating temperature of the coolant increases, the
expanded (heated) excess coolant is forced out of the engine,
through the pressure cap, and into the recovery bottle. When
the engine coolant temperature drops, the contracted (cooled)
coolant is drawn out of the bottle, passes through the pressure
cap, and enters the radiator.
It is normal for coolant level to drop on a new vehicle because
the system is draining air. Check coolant level and add coolant to
recovery bottle as recommended.
RADIATOR
INSPECTION
Check radiator and hoses for leaks or damage. Check the heat
sink. The heat sink must be kept clean. Often clean the heat sink
in the dirt, and any deposits that hinder the normal cooling of the
radiator.
