6.3.2 THE TANDY DMP132 PRINTER
This printer utilises a 4 pin DIN style connector for its serial interface (Radio
Shack no. 274-007). Wire connection is;
SI9500 COLOUR TANDY PIN
1 BLUE 3
2 RED 4
3 YELLOW 2
6.3.3 USING OTHER PRINTERS
If a different printer is used the connector type and pin numbers will be given
in the printer user manual. Having obtained the correct connector it will be
necessary to connect to is as follows;
SI9500 PIN COLOUR PRINTER CONNECTION
1 BLUE Signal Ground or 0/ V. Not to be confused
with screen or protective ground which may
be a different pin.
2 RED TxD or Transmit Data. This is the wire that
carries the data signal with respect to 0/ V out
of the SI9500.
3 YELLOW CTS or Clear to Send. This signal is generated
by the printer and is used to stop and start the flow
of data from the SI9500. It must be connected as
its default state is to stop data transmission.
6.4 SETTING UP THE RS232 DATA FORMAT
The RS232 standard allows a large number of permutations in its data
transmission format. It is therefore necessary to ensure that the printer is set
to the same transmission format as the SI9500.
