When disassembling or assembling the internal assembly, turn the cassette joint until it makes contact and ensure that
the unit is in 1st gear (the tabs on the hub axle are folded down) before working. It will be easier to keep the unit in 1st
gear if you connect a compatible shifting lever.
With the drive side facing downward, use a vise
to secure the internal assembly in place.
1. Remove the brake shoe unit.
2. Remove the O-ring.
Later steps may still be performed even if the
O-ring is not removed.
