Aerosol generator (SG3000)
2.4 Test procedure
z Check whether the equipment has sufficient liquid paraffin (if not top it up).
z Connect the remote control to the aerosol generator.
z Connect the CO
2
to the generator with the quick-action connector and set the
pressure to 0.75 bar.
z Connect the aerosol generator and heating element (chimney) to the mains
supply and switch on -> Remote control LED lights up red.
z Wait until the LED changes to green (approx. 15 min.) –> the device is ready for
operation.
z The test is started by pressing the button on the remote control –> LED flashes
z Terminate the test when the alarm has been triggered by pressing the button on
the remote control. If the button is not pressed, the device automatically
terminates the test after six minutes.
z Ventilate the room.
z Disconnect the heating element from the mains supply, disconnect the remote
control (the generator remains connected to the mains supply for cooling by the
fan). After cooling (10 - 20 min.) disconnect the device from the mains.
2.5 Notes
z The device has been approved by the "Centre National de Prévention et de
Protection" (CNPP) for rooms with a maximum height of 5m, but can also be
used in higher rooms.
z For tests in rooms higher than 7m an additional heat source is required such as
a hotplate with a minimum output of 2,000 W.
z Tests in a 10x10x10m room without any ventilation have shown that with a test
duration of six minutes the detectors FDOOT241 with setting Fast Response
and the FDO241 with setting Sensitive are triggered. This occurs without an
additional heat source.
z In rooms which are higher than 5m and have an air circulation of > 7 times/h it is
hardly possible to perform test fires with the SG3000. An additional thermal uplift
would be needed -> Aerosols must penetrate the detector.
z When testing fire detectors in floor cavities the aerosol generator is operated
without the heating element and chimney.
z The acceptance test fire for detectors which are not listed in the table must be
individually specified. Guidelines for the expected test duration can be obtained
by comparing the smoke sensitivity of the individual detectors.
z The FDOOT241 with the parameter set 8 / High Suppression can not be
triggered with the SG3000, as this parameter set requires a certain increase in
temperature for alarm initiation.
