Open plastic fire (TF4)
Example: Room height 7m
Room area 80m
2
Air exchanged 5 times/h
Mounted detector = FDOOT241 with parameter set 6 / Fast Response
1) Zone factor according to Figure 5 -> 4
2) Number of polyurethane mats according to Table 4 -> 2
Result: 2 polyurethane mats are required
4.4 Test procedure
z Determine the number of required mats.
z Shape a high rim with the aluminum foil so that no melted combustible material
can flow onto the floor.
z Place the aluminum foil onto the flame-retardant underlying board to protect the
floor.
z Place the required number of polyurethane mats onto the shaped aluminum foil.
At least two mats should be placed on top of one another. If less than two mats
are required, the mat must be cut in half and the two halves placed on top of one
another.
z Check that the test is carried out at a safe distance from combustible material
and have the extinguishing equipment ready.
z Ignite the mats at a corner with a match.
z Always leave the acceptance test fire to burn out even after an alarm has been
triggered.
z Ventilate the room.
4.5 Notes
z In rooms in which the air is exchanged >7 times/h the acceptance test fire must
be specified individually. If the air is exchanged 7 to 20 times/h, the number of
required mats increases by 50 percent.
z In rooms higher than 10m test fires must be planned individually. The ceiling
construction, the positioning of detectors and especially the ambient temperature
in the vicinity of the detector play a major role.
z The acceptance test fire for detectors which are not contained in the table must
be individually specified. A guideline for the number of mats required can be
obtained by comparing the smoke sensitivity of the individual detectors.
TOXIC GASES Never let test mats smolder as this produces toxic gases!
