Aerosol generator (SG3000)
2 Aerosol generator (SG3000)
2.1 General
The aerosol generator was developed by our French colleagues and is also
produced in France. The device was tested at the "Centre National de Prévention
et de Protection" (CNPP) and has been approved by "l'Assemblée Plénière des
Sociétés d'Assurances Dommages" (APSAD).
Smoke is generated by vaporizing liquid paraffin in a pressure-proof chamber at
approximately 400°C, and the necessary transport energy is generated by
overpressure using CO
2
. The necessary upthrust is created by a chimney with
installed heating with an output of 1kW. The intensity of aerosol production is
electronically controlled and increases throughout the duration of the test.
The great advantage of the SG3000 in comparison to the standard acceptance test
fire is that it does not generate toxic smoke or cause soiling. The device can
therefore also be used in a clean environment without any problems. The liquid
paraffin used has no effect on foodstuffs and is absolutely non-toxic.
